Our History
Formed in Kaapsehoop, Mpumalanga in 1989 with just 9 members, SAFCA was envisioned as a platform to unite forestry contractors. Over the years, our range of services has been adapted to best serve our members. Retaining key services has been crucial as we continue to support contractors in the all-important compulsory Fire Risk Insurance, forestry-technical advice, costing guidance, and representation on various forums.
As the representative of forestry contractors, SAFCA collaborates with industry organizations like Forestry South Africa (FSA) and the Forest Sector Charter Council (FSCC) and Tertiary Institutes. Participation in discussions on human resources, B-BBEE compliance, costing and codes of practice highlights our dedication to ensuring a sustainable and inclusive industry. Our presence in addressing industry-wide matters underscores the commitment to nurturing a dynamic future for forestry contractors in South Africa.

How We Support Contractors
Representing Contractors and working together with:
- Forestry South Africa on various industry related matters and other legislative statutory issues.
- Forest Sector Charter Council (FSCC) to attend to B-BBEE matters and contractor codes of good practice.
- Collective Public Liability Insurance for contractors – Spread of Fire risk. We liaise with insurers to secure preferential rates.
- Academic institutions for amongst others; costing models and the placement of forestry students.
